Christian Andersen

CEO of BOPA

Christian has spent most of his career in business management in Asia and has been involved in microfinance since 2005. He is the co-founder of BOPA | Base of the Pyramid Asia and passionate about helping smaller, responsible MFI’s get access to equity and grow efficiently. Christian has a MBA from IMD in Switzerland, is a World Bank and Asia Development Bank Certified Microfinance Trainer of Trainers (MFTOT – with distinction) and has participated in several workshops and trainings at the Boulder Institute of Microfinance, BRAC and CGAP.

Konrad Ellsasser

Managing Director of FIDES

Konrad is founder and director of FIDES | Financial Systems Development Services AG. He is a former researcher and has worked in the creation of microfinance institutions for the last twenty years. The concepts of some of the most successful microfinance institutions in Eastern Europe and in Africa have been developed by him. FIDES is both an operational partner and investor in Alliance that brings the experience of launching several successful microfinance institutions in Africa and Asia.

Niroshani Sawanawadu

COO of BOPA

With an original background as an IT professional and initial career in IT Management, Niroshani has been involved in the microfinance field focusing on IT and MIS implementation since 2007. She has developed a strong operational track record in the microfinance industry and recently she has been responsible for building one of the leading microfinance companies in Myanmar – from greenfield to sustainable operation within a short time span of 2 years. Niroshani is also a CGAP certified trainer and have obtained solid experience in Social Performance Management through several social audits of MFIs in Africa and Asia during her time with EDA Rural Systems (India).

Arthur Dumas

Investment Manager at Insitor Impact Fund

Arthur manages investments for Insitor Impact Fund, an impact investment firm based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Insitor invests in South and Southeast Asian companies in the healthcare, education, affordable housing, water sanitation, and clean energy sectors in addition to microfinance institutions. Prior to joining Insitor, Arthur worked as an investment officer for BlueOrchard Finance, a commercial microfinance debt investment manager. During his time in BlueOrchard’s Phnom Penh office, Arthur led and closed debt transactions totalling over USD 30 million with microfinance institutions in Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan, East Timor and Mongolia. Arthur holds a master degree with honours in Banking and Finance from the University Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne.

Deepa Hingorani

Vice President, South Asia at IFU

Deepa manages the operations and investments of IFU in South and Southeast Asia. IFU is an independent fund owned by the Danish government that provides risk capital and advice to companies wishing to set up business in Africa, Asia, Latin America and parts of Europe. Investments are made on commercial terms with the purpose of contributing to economic and social development in the investment countries. IFU and IFU managed funds have co-invested in more than 1200 companies in 100 countries. Deepa holds a Masters in Finance & MBA from SIMI in Copenhagen. She brings over 20 years of experience in finance and business management to Alliance’s board.

Thng Tien Tat

Executive Director at UOB Venture Management

Tien Tat has more than twenty years of experience in banking and spent the last fourteen years developing banking business for UOB in the Mekong region, in particular Myanmar and Vietnam. He is responsible for deal sourcing, investment valuation, structuring and divestments. A subsidiary of United Overseas Bank, UOBVM has provided financing to more than 100 privately held companies through direct equity investment, mainly in Southeast Asia and Greater China. Their investments include responsible investing where communities are enriched through their ESG policies and impact investing. Prior to joining UOBVM, Tien Tat was with United Overseas Bank as the Country Manager for Vietnam, and was based in Ho Chi Minh City since 2001.

B. L. Parthasarathy

Consultant – Microfinance & Financial Inclusion

One of the members in the early team that set up BASIX, Partha has over 35 years of experience in the microfinance and banking sectors, agriculture finance and rural development. He served as Managing Director of KBS Bank (2005-2008). He was the Managing Director of BASIX Consulting and Training Services Limited (2008-2014) providing consulting services in over 35 countries in Asia, Pacific and Africa.
Parthasarathy is currently providing consulting, advisory and institutional development services in the field of microfinance & financial inclusion to national and international agencies around the world.

Dr Maung Maung Thein

Director

Dr. Maung Maung Thein has a Ph.D in International business Law.He is a former chairman of Insurance Business Regulatory Board.He has solid experience in Insurance and Financial sector.He has been providing development of Yangon Stock Exchange and consulting to UMFCCI.

Management

Kim Guenkel

Chief Executive Officer

Kim joined Alliance in 2015 after serving as CEO of several MFIs in Africa and the Caribbean. He has managed institutions for LFS and FINCA in difficult development contexts and has seen MFIs through different stages of their development; start-up, maturity and turn-around. Kim has managed institutions with a diverse set of products and a focus on both solid business performance and achieving social goals.

Kyaw Swar Win

Chief Operating Officer

Kyaw Swar Win joined Alliance in 2016 after a 14-year career with PACT. He has experience at all levels of MFI operations management, from field-based credit officer to managing networks with dozens of branches. He has brought this experience to Alliance, where he has developed the MFI from a 3-branch operation to the market leader it is today.

Soe Yu Lwin

Chief Financial Officer

Soe Yu Lwin Chief Finance Officer joined Alliance in 2015. She has more than twenty years of experience in several sectors, Production, Distribution and Microfinance. She holds a Master’s degree in business administration from Mandalay (Meiktila) University and also bachelor’s degree in commerce from Yangon University of Economic in Myanmar. She has brought this experience to Alliance, where she has completely built and developed the MFI’s finance department and its procedures from beginning.
